Happy Monday Ladies! The Sunday Scaries are a real thing (really) but one thing that always makes my Monday suck a little less, is if I’m excited to wear my outfit. Today, I wanted to share 3 tips on looking chic at the office.
Tip 1: Own at least one good matching suit set
Ladies – A tailored suit that fits and flatters your body type can make all the difference when dressing for your 9-5. Not all jobs require a formal dress code, but trust me on this one! Owning a well fitting suit not only makes you look like a boss, but each piece can be worn separately and easily dressed up or down. I am obsessed with this Tweed Skirt and Blazer set from Chicwish. Together the pieces are perfect for Sunday church service or running to a business meeting. I plan to pair this blazer with a vintage band tee and high waist cropped jeans for a laid back weekend look. A cozy oversized sweater would look perfect tucked into this skirt with a pair of over the knee boots. I’ll be sharing multiple ways to wear a suit in an upcoming post!
Tip 2: Don’t be afraid to go monochromatic.
The key to pulling off a monochromatic look is to play with different textures. For example, a cashmere sweater paired with a suede skirt creates visual interest and adds depth to your outfit. I honestly love a good all nude, white, or black outfit (shocking I know – I can feel my mom’s eye roll from here) but that doesn’t mean you can’t try other colors as well. Break things up with accessories or shoes but try to stay within the same color palette. You can check out a few of my favorite monochrome looks here, here, and here.
Tip 3: Remember sporty can be office chic too!
I’m a strong believer that if your workplace isn’t super strict, you should definitely mix and match athleisure items with more formal structured pieces. One of my favorite work outfits is a pair of athletic joggers paired with a lace cami, blazer, and heels. It’s so comfortable, but also effortlessly chic! Check out how I styled my track pants for the office here and here.
